Oil on mounted linen
18" x 24"

The Senorita’s skirt really makes this painting work. The subtle circular pattern works well with the light and dark. The senorita’s name is Firmina. She is picking flowers in Suzanne’s Garden in Alamos, Mexico, and collecting them in a basket. She is at the top of a stairway that leads to the main garden. Of interest in this painting are the many uses of adobe, in the bricks, in the columns and their supports. Even the pots add to the earthy feel. Looking up at her face, bent forward, with her mouth slightly open was difficult to work out in this painting.
